Jesus pursues us more than we'll ever pursue him. That's what he did for me when I was at uni.

I grew up in a non-Christian home and we didn't go to church.  My only experience of church and Jesus was the school Christmas carol service and occasionally saying the Lord's prayer in assemblies. I didn't object to the person of Jesus and I couldn't, because he just wasn't a feature. But as I got older, I started to feel increasingly like I wasn't the right kind of person Jesus could love. I had a deep sense that I hadn't just done wrong things but I felt I was wrong.

One of my best friends invited me to Christian Union (CU) events every year. While I always felt slightly uncomfortable, I went out of politeness. When I attended CU mission week ('Story') in my final year I had had some tragic family news several months earlier and my world view had been unravelling. But I think God was preparing my heart. And when I attended the mission week, I received the gospel in a fresh way. I received it as good news and heard the words being preached as not just human words but as the very words of God (1 Thessalonians 1:13).

I've worked in Westminster and attended Globe since moving to London in September 2017, where I've been involved in focus leading and joined trips to our partner church in Castres. This year I'm excited to be working part-time as a ministry trainee alongside continuing to work in the Civil Service.
