We love Christmas because it tells the story of the greatest gift that has ever been given. Into the darkness, light has come. Into the sorrow, joy has been born. Into the chaos, peace has entered.
We love Christmas because we love to celebrate Jesus. Come as you are, we’d love to see you!
All our carol services are free and you don’t need to purchase any kind of ticket.
O Come Let Us Adore – Sunday Carol Service (14 December)
Our Sunday Carol Services will be the same service repeated once at 4pm and again at 6.30pm. With a Globe style band, and our Christmas Choir we’re in for a musical treat. We’ll hear a talk from the Bible sharing the good news of Christmas.
Can I bring my children?
In our 4pm Service there will be groups that you can bring your children along to, that are run by trained and DBS checked volunteers. You can leave your child if you want to (you will be asked to sign a consent form on the day) or you can stay in with your child.
We have two groups for children, Globe Minis and Globe Tinies. Minis is for children age 3 and up to Year 4 in school, and Tinies is for babies up to the age of 3. Minis and Tinies meet during the talk, but stay with you during the rest of the Carol Service.
In our 6.30pm service there won’t be particular groups for children, but any children are welcome. If your child needs some space to play, there will be a side room within the service that will be set up for you to take them to. There will be a few toys available.
How long will the services be?
Both services on the Sunday are the same, and will run for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Timings will be 4-5.15pm, and then 6.30-7.45pm.
Will there be food?
After each service, refreshments will be served. Think mulled drinks and a sweet treat! These are free for anyone who comes along.
Glory to the Newborn King – Wednesday Carol Service (17 December)
Our Wednesday Carol Service will include a brass band accompanying us in carol singing. There will be a chance to hear a Christmas message and a festive choir piece, giving us space to reflect. Older children are very welcome, but it might not be the best environment for very little ones. After the service we’ll enjoy festive refreshments together. This service will be about an hour long.
Accessibility
The venue for both services is Ark Globe Academy, a secondary school with a large hall.
There is level wheelchair access to the school building which includes a lift to access the main hall. You can view what the venue looks like.
In our current venue, lighting is quite bright and direct. Those who are light sensitive may want to wear sunglasses. Large print Bibles are available.
The sound levels are quite high throughout the service too, you are welcome to wear ear defenders if that would help you.
If you are d/Deaf or hard of hearing, get in touch with us before the service, and we’ll work out how we best can help. We have an area of the church seating covered by a T-Loop system, our Welcome Team can point you in the right direction.
At the school there is a disabled toilet, to the right of the reception desk. This however isn’t a changing spaces bathroom.
If you’d like more information about the structure of the service, please let us know.
