Recently Jasmine wrote a poem that she wanted to share, below are some of her thoughts as she was writing and recording of it for you to listen to.

I wrote this poem after reflecting on Genesis 3 a while ago. I have been reflecting on the fact that many within churches in our region of the world wrestle greatly with feelings of apathy and spiritual complacency. 

I hope this poem might be an encouragement for anyone who finds themselves in a season where they desire to know God more and experience spiritual transformation but struggles either to open up God’s Word in their free time or with praying and asking for help from the Holy Spirit for a change of heart to settle their convictions.

Where are you?
Near the tree. You see me?
Who told you that you were naked?
They did…? I did? And all I feel is shame.
So why in my pain should I also take the blame?
I gave My Word to protect you. I heard your soul howl
From the knowledge of all evil. What is your plan now?
If my mind is my prison, how can I dream with vision?
If I face condemnation, how can I find my mission?
They hurt me without question; I can’t give absolution.
So I’ll just take care of me. I will realise this ambition.
Grief provided clarity. I’ll love but with condition.
I’ll do more than survive. I’ll get deserved recognition.
Busyness is effective. There’s no void in distraction.
When days are too much… we have self-medication…
Why are you so afraid?
Who can suppress this buried rage confronting ghosts of the past?
How can we rest in today’s age and present going by so fast?
And I confess I could not gauge an unfulfilled future. That fear lasts.
So, we address life as a ‘stage’ as all perform. I run because… I must.
Why do you run?
As I see the human race. In fact, they’re calling me.
I am pausing, just because… out of my curiosity…
Why do you keep asking me these questions?
Would you believe Me if I tell you?
I really need to go. I tried prayer and do not know.
Others tell me about You and for now, that will do.
I see your isolation. I know you question your reality.
I gave the Truth to humanity as foretold in prophecy.
What is this Book about?
My Heart.
These scriptures which span millennia; know each Word is breathed by Me.
You ignore Me and My biography yet claim you want to know Me personally.
Know I am Who I am. Self – existent. I have chosen to provide My history.
I shared My genealogy so you’d know all roots trace to The Vine, My tree;
And those seeking The Way, Truth and Life could repent and sow My seed.
If you knew My Word, I’m Faithful Abba, you’d see lies told by your enemy.
Your sin has so grieved My heart. I see how you’ve distanced yourself from Me.
You seek your value in what I’ve created as you do not know your identity.
If you’d seek The Wonderful Counsellor, you’d experience His yoke is easy.
You could never comprehend how much I love you. So read this and see,
Read of the past how I sent prophets to tell you how I’d redeem humanity;
Read how I sent My beloved Son to suffer your judgment. That I also am He.
Read about the present how I send The Helper to empower you to be free,
Read about the future that I’ll dwell with My children in glory for eternity.
I want to save you from yourself; those who obey My Will find sanctuary.
Descendants of Eve, here’s clothes not your leaves.
Do you believe My Word? Do you trust Me?
